The more environmentally friendly OS

Is there any reason that the temporary storage "receptacle" for deleted files is called a recycle bin on PCs? Are we supposed to believe that Microsoft is more environmentally friendly than Apple?

Although Apple's corresponding functionality is called "Trash," the company takes its name from something that grows in the earth. What's more environmentally friendly than that?

I love that you think about these things.

I'm going to guess it's because if Apple copied Windows and also called it a "recycle bin," they would run into some intellectual property law issues. So they made it similar enough so users who switch will understand its function.

Geeez, law school has officially consumed my fun time.

We should start a protest at the Apple headquarters. I will bring the posters to picket with--and yes, you can expect that they will be made out of 100% recycled material.
